Small Town Charm, Big Time Fun: The Oakdale 2026 Event Guide

Updated: 14 hours ago

There is a special kind of magic that happens when you cross the bridge into Oakdale. It’s the feeling of a place where neighbors still wave from their porches, the air smells like the foothills, and every event feels like a family reunion. While we are proud of our "Cowboy Capital" roots, our true heart lies in our small-town charm and the big-time fun we have when the community comes together.

2026 is packed with reasons to visit. Whether you’re looking for a world-class athletic challenge or a quiet afternoon at a farm stand, here is your guide to a year of unforgettable Oakdale moments.

Spring: Blossoms, Berries, and Broncs

Spring in Oakdale is vibrant and full of life. The foothills turn a brilliant green, and the air is sweet with the scent of blooming orchards.

  • Almond Blossom Cruise (mid-February – mid-March): Kick off the year with nature’s most spectacular show. As the almond trees burst into pink and white blooms, grab a map and take a leisurely drive through the orchards surrounding Oakdale. It’s a "window-down, music-up" kind of experience that perfectly captures our agricultural beauty.

  • SONS Farm Fresh (Spring/Summer Season): As soon as the blossoms fade, the berries arrive! A stop at SONS is a local rite of passage. This isn't just a farm stand; it’s a taste of Oakdale. Grab a flat of the freshest strawberries you’ve ever tasted and a jar of their famous local fresh honey.

  • Spartan Race San Jose/Oakdale (April 4–5): For those who like a challenge, the Spartan Race returns to the rugged, beautiful terrain of Woodward Reservoir. It’s a weekend of mud, obstacles, and grit right in our backyard. Whether you’re competing or just cheering from the sidelines, the energy is infectious!

  • Oakdale Rodeo Week (April 9–12): The whole town catches "Rodeo Fever." Don't miss the Saturday Morning Parade—it’s the epitome of small-town pride with vintage tractors, local marching bands, and plenty of horses. Then, head to the Saddle Club Grounds for the 72nd Annual Oakdale Rodeo to see the PRCA pros in action.

  • Spurs & Roses (May 8): This is one of the sweetest nights of the year. It’s a mother-son dance at the Rodeo Grounds that brings generations together for dinner and dancing under the stars.

Summer: Markets & Music

Summer in Oakdale is all about slowing down and soaking up the golden hours.

  • The Oakdale Morning Market (Saturdays, May – Sept): Every Saturday morning, downtown transforms into a hub of local life. Browse local produce and handmade artisan goods while listening to live music. It’s the best way to soak up the local culture at your own pace.

  • Concerts in the Park (Friday Nights, July–August): Pack a picnic and head to Dorada Park. These free outdoor concerts are where the community gathers to let loose. Kids running on the grass and the setting sun—it’s pure summer bliss. Love Oakdale is taking the reigns of this event in 2026 and the concerts will return in June and July!

Fall: Harvest Gold & Festive Hops

Fall is arguably the most beautiful time in Oakdale. The surrounding orchards turn gold, and the town leans into the harvest season.

  • Oaktoberfest at Dying Breed Brewing (September): Dust off your lederhosen! Dying Breed has become a local legend, and their Oaktoberfest is a high-energy bash featuring local craft beer, food trucks, and a festive atmosphere that proves small towns throw the best parties.

  • Spoketoberfest (Mid-October): This event is a cyclist's dream! Starting and ending in Oakdale, this ride takes you through the scenic backroads of our beautiful valley. Whether you're a serious rider or just looking for a fun community cruise, the finish line celebration is always a blast.

  • SONS Farm Fresh Pumpkin Patch (October): In the fall, SONS transforms into a massive family attraction. With a huge selection of pumpkins, hay bale pyramids, and plenty of photo ops, it’s the ultimate destination for families looking for that perfect autumn afternoon.

  • The Harvest Experience at Marsella Family Vineyards (October): For a "chill" wine-tasting experience, Marsella is a must. Pet a friendly llama and enjoy a glass of world-class wine in a rustic, 135-year-old farm setting.

Winter: A Hallmark Holiday Come to Life

We wrap up the year by leaning into our cozy side, making Oakdale feel like a scene from a holiday movie.

  • A Small Town Christmas (Early December): Between the holiday craft fair, the Christmas parade down F Street, and the community tree lighting, you can’t help but feel the holiday spirit.

  • The Julia Haidlen Memorial Ice Rink: Located in the heart of town, this outdoor rink is our favorite winter tradition. It’s the perfect place for family memories and hot cocoa.
