Dying Breed Brewing
Dying Breed Brewing is located in Oakdale, California which is a small country town originally settled by Francis Cottle and his herd of cattle in 1853. We chose our highlander cow, quite frankly for it’s amazing hairdo, and to reflect the beginning of a great tradition. Oakdale, is a longtime cattle ranching community known as the cowboy capitol of the world that is today part of a dying breed.
At Dying Breed Brewing, we believe in keeping good traditions alive and paying homage to those that worked hard at their craft. We do our part by developing local craft beer made with the finest ingredients and inspired by a story of tradition.
So, come in, have a pint and share your story with us. We believe we’re all part of a dying breed and your story should be told.

Located in historic downtown Oakdale, our taproom provides a family friendly place to sit and enjoy our selection of handcrafted, locally made beer.
We opened our downtown location in March of 2019, after just over three years of having a small taproom attached to our brewery site. This move and expansion has allowed us to share our passion for craft beer with even more of our community. Farmer John Started It All
Farmer John was wearing overalls long before he found himself a farm. Turns out, overalls are great for carrying baby bottles, wet wipes and fruit roll-ups. Tools of the trade for a stay-at-home Dad of four. While Kristi brought home the bacon working in the wine business, the two dreamed of living in the country one day, close to some water with space for a couple of horses. With nearly-grown kids, their dreams came true in 2014 with the purchase of the 135-year-old Merrihew farm in beautiful Oakdale, California. Now with 12+ acres on the banks of the Stanislaus River, John decided to plant vineyards, and within a few years, Marsella Family Vineyards was producing our first wines for friends and family. Now we’re ready to make our wines available to everyone!
